Celestial Sphere

Rique Pottenger

This chart demonstrates the graphic concepts of Celestial Longitude, Celestial Latitude, Right Ascension, Declination, Azimuth, and Altitude. The Earth is in the center of the Sphere, and the base circle is the Horizon. The plane of the Horizon touches the Earth's surface at birth. The planets will be close to the Ecliptic, though Pluto may be above or below it.

The diagram makes it easier to see some things than looking at numbers. You will be able to see planets that are conjunct in Longitude, but separated in Latitude. Interrelationships between the various coordinate systems become more evident.

Plus, the color chart is pretty to look at.
