SLIDING INTO NEW VALUES

Thomas Canfield

The Summer Solstice chart features a series of sextiles, which suggest an easy transition into good times. Pluto is sextile Neptune, which is sextile Uranus, which is sextile Venus. Mars is sextile Mercury and Jupiter, and both are sextile the Moon.  Saturn is sextile the Midheaven and the Ascendant. The Sun in Cancer is trine the North Node, and sextle the South Node.  Watch out for Neptune squaring the Solstice Sun  and Venus opposing Pluto. At the end of June, Mars moves into Gemini, conjunct Uranus, and in early July Jupiter moves into Leo, sextile Mars and Uranus, while opposing Pluto.

What we may be seeing over the Summer is a change in values once the North Node moves into Aquarius. With Neptune squaring the Solstice Sun and the North Node trine the Sun, this could be a final period of feel-good fantasies. The sextile between Neptune and Uranus may have kept the public drugged and happy for a while. Once Mars is conjunct Uranus, the conversations of the talking heads may get more violent, and at the same time Neptune will be moving retrograde. The violence may shatter some of the illusions. . At the beginning of July, the Node axis will be squaring Mars-Uranus. More people might be waking up from the fantasies that have kept them content. By the time the North Node enters Aquarius in late July, there may be a realization that the masses of people are not so content.

Mars in Taurus trine the Moon in Virgo may keep the public content with war stories and fantasies for the families of those left behind. Mars sextile Mercury in the Second House may give fast talk and comforting propaganda. Mars sextile Jupiter may bring financial promises. The problem is that once Jupiter moves into Leo, there may be distractions of a gold and glitzy kind. Will a new ballroom distract from other difficulties? A Pluto opposition may tarnish all the gold Jupiter offers, especially as the Sun moves into Leo at the same time. One paragraph from the Epstein files may darken all of the gold in the Oval Office.

Saturn sits in the middle between the Midheaven and the Ascendant, like the fulcrum of a balance scale. With Saturn in the Eleventh House, the public must strike a balance. This weighing process might be triggered because Mercury goes retrograde at the beginning of July, moving back from 26 Cancer to 16 Cancer. By the time Mercury goes direct, it will square Saturn in Aries and quincunx the Midheaven of the Solstice chart. There may be confusing stories of family values spread by people who never held those values. Mercury will be sextile Venus in Virgo by the time the retrograde ends, but Mars in Gemini will square Venus in Virgo. It may be a time of double-talk versus militant statements, and Venus will help figure them out.

By the end of July, Mercury will be direct, but Saturn will turn retrograde. Pluto and Neptune will be retrograde. Mars and Venus will be square. The Node axis moves back into Aquarius-Leo. What starts out as a nice sextile slide might develop some bumps. The Sun in Leo will oppose Pluto in Aquarius. What began like a nice water slide at the Summer Solstice  may end like a drop into an empty swimming pool.
